When installing the two-valve system (GTT-SV001) on a 3 Tonne JCB Reach Truck, our instruction team had missed one of the regular operators, absent with holiday leave. The test vehicle had a valve on the extension beam and one on the lifting boom, consequently, would protect against overreach tilt at the extending beam and against lifting moment on a downward slope beyond 5 degrees.
The customer site has an awkward 1 in 12 slope that holds a major concern for the management team, often having to reprimand operators for lifting on a downward slope.

Three months into the test period all seemed to be going very well until the absent operator found himself on the downward slope trying to lift a substantial load, he couldn’t do it the machine would not allow him to lift, his frustration got the better of him and he left his vehicle and confirmed to all in ear shot that the machine was useless, storming off to complain to his foreman. Once the management team had learnt of this incident, we received a call from the very grateful site manager.
All safe and secure, the valve in this case is designed to lower its beam on a slope exceeding 5 degrees and to retract only at 2/3 degrees on the extension beam.
